IoT Cloud Research Group at SED



The IoT Cloud Research Group was founded in 2014 at the Software Engineering Department of the Institute of Informatics of the University of Szeged, Hungary. The main research interests of the group include the interoperation of Cloud, Fog, IoT and Blockchain technologies and the analysis of complex systems created with them. Members of the group are key developers of the MobIoTSim, FoBSim and DISSECT-CF-Fog simulation environments, and related research tools.

  • Dr. habil. Attila KERTESZ

    keratt (at) inf.u-szeged.hu

    He is the leader of the IoT Cloud Research Group, and an associate professor at the Software Engineering Department (SED) of the University of Szeged. His research work covers interoperability and data management aspects of Cloud, Fog, IoT and Blockchain systems. He is a work package leader in the GINOP IoLT project and the IPD group of the Smart Systems Research Institute, and a Management Committee member of the COST Action CA17136 EU project. He participated in several successful European projects including COST IC1304, ENTICE EU H2020, COST IC0805, SHIWA, S-Cube EU FP7 and the CoreGRID EU FP6 Network of Excellence projects. He has more than 100 publications, with more than 800 citations.

  • Dr. Tamas PFLANZNER

    tamas.pflanzner (at) inf.u-szeged.hu

    He is an assistant professor at SED, with the main research interest of semi-simulation of IoT-Fog-Cloud systems. He mainly works in the GINOP IoLT and the IPD group of the Smart Systems Research Institute. He is a Management Committee substitute member of the COST Action CA17136 EU project. He is the main developer of MobIoTSim and SUMMON.

  • Andras MARKUS

    He is a PhD student at SED, with the main research interest of simulation of IoT-Fog-Cloud systems. He mainly works in the EFOP 3.6.1 and the GINOP IoLT project. He is a Management Committee substitute member of the COST Action CA19135 EU project. He is the main developer of DISSECF-CF-IoT and DISSECF-CF-Fog.

  • Hamza BANIATA

    baniatah (at) inf.u-szeged.hu

    He is a PhD candidate at the Doctoral School of Computer Science, mainly working as a Blockchain Specialist in the OTKA FK 131793 and the NGI-TRUBLO EU projects. His research interests fallin the domains of security, privacy and trust of integrated Cloud/Fog Computing, Internet of Things and Blockchain systems. He is the main developer of the FoBSim tool.

  • Bishwajeeban MISHRA

    mishra (at) inf.u-szeged.hu

    He is a research assistant and a pre-doctoral Stipendium Hungaricum student at SED, with the main research interest of communication efficiency of IoT systems. He mainly works in the EFOP 3.6.1 project.

  • Mate BIRO

    He is an MSc student at SED, his research interests include mainly Fog simulation and Fog behaviour analysis. He is a developer of DISSECT-CF-Fog.

  • Zoltan FEHER

    He is an MSc student at SED, with the main research interest of data mining solutions for IoT-Fog-Cloud systems. He mainly works in the EFOP 3.6.1 project. He is a developer of SUMMON.
